VUO collective


VUO is a collective that has gradually formed around similar values and mutual interest in environmental art, public space, and nature. Somewhere in between built and other worlds, the collective’s work often deals with questions of public and sonic spaces. The collective consists of Atso Airola and Olli Laine.

Listening to Aukštumala

Workshop held for the participants of SIKON35 summer school in Lithuania. Thw workshop explored how to cultivate empathy towards a site through the act of (extended) listening. By recording water, flora, and fauna, both above and below (with hydrophones) the soft surfaces of the wetland, aim was to dive into the fluid multispecies ecology of Aukštumala, and see what topics, questions, and dynamics arise when paying attention to the sounds normally unavailable to human hearing.

NOICE  & SILENCE - listening as a method

3 day workshop held for the students of Bergen School of Architecture about listening, sound recording equipment and hydrophones.
